The Benefits of Using Essential Oils

Here’s a topic I can go for days speaking highly about; essential oils! The benefits of using essential oils come in a variety of different forms, beneficial for both your mind and body. These hidden gems could literally change the course of a rotten day while giving your physical body a semi-spa treatment. Essential oils come in many different scents, but they all aim to benefit its user to the fullest potential. I bet you can tell how much I love these little knickknacks, huh?

The benefits of using essential oils come from the scent/flavor of the individual essential oil. Depending on which essential oil you decide to choose, you could be getting just one benefit of using an essential oil. Feel free to mix and match depending on your desired benefit!

How to Use Essential Oils

Before we get into the benefits, I wanted to let you know how you can generally use all of these essential oils. The most popular way of utilizing the benefits is via an essential oil diffuser. Other common ways to use essential oils include topical application and consumption (yup, you can eat these, per-say).

Uplifting, Positivity and Peace

  • Lavender
  • Peppermint
  • Orange
  • Jasmine
  • Frankincense

Popping in a variety of different essential oil into your diffuser can de-stress and energize you to help you get through your day levelheaded. Feelings of calmness, peace, and joy intermingle with these scents when they’re diffused into your home’s air. Utilize these oils during rough, hard or stressful days to promote positivity. You can also use these to inspire positivity and good spirit during the holiday seasons, business-related meetings or social gatherings. Anytime you want positive, good-feeling vibes, use these essential oils in your diffuser.

Physical Wellbeing

Keeping up a healthy diet could be a nuisance at times, and staying on top of what your eating is even more of a chore. Some foods carry essential oils to help keep your dietary system intact. You can also find essential oils in supplements that help supply you with the best nutrients. Consumption of pure and edible essential oils aid toward a healthy and energized living. Just beware, not all essential oils are consumable. Search online for the edible ones, you can even pop them into your morning coffee!

Sleep Better

  • Lavender
  • Frankincense

Lavender is vastly known to help calm your mind and promote healthy sleeping patterns. The scent impacts us greatly with its powerful relaxation properties, giving us ease-of-mind. It can also help us ladies out a bunch; smelling lavender during the time of your menstruation can alleviate menstrual cramps and pain.

With frankincense, you’ll feel senses of calmness and spiritual awareness, helping you drift into sleep with ease.

Beauty and Skin

  • Cedarwood
  • Lavender
  • Tea Tree
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Frankincense

These essential oils actually help your skin look and feel much more healthy, clear and smooth. Oils such as cedarwood and tea tree help promote clear, youthful skin while tackling any breakouts and acne. Frankincense is known to heal cuts, scrapes, and burns much quicker. These essential oils can be used topically across the entire body to have your body feeling youthful and healthy.

Purify Your Home

  • Lemon
  • Grapefruit

One of my favorite essential oil scents includes lemon. These oils can be used throughout your home to rid it of bad scents and purify it overall. You can add lemon and grapefruit to your laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner, hand soap, dish soap and anything else you use to clean your home. Wipe down your countertops with lemon or grapefruit essential oil. Your home will feel refreshed and pure as if no mess was there in the first place.

Other Essential Oil Benefits

  • Eucalyptus: Use it in a diffusor to open up your sinuses or alleviate a cold.
  • Oregano: This oil is commonly consumed during the flu by placing a few drops on the tongue. It doesn’t taste great but can alleviate flu symptoms.
  • Peppermint: It can stimulate your mind and offers mental awareness. Plus, you can consume this one as well. (Peppermint coffee or hot chocolate is amazing!)
  • Chamomile: You’ve probably had this in tea form, which I’m highly allergic to, but it’s said to promote calmness and is perfect for when you’re getting into bed for the night. Drop a few droplets onto your pillow as you drift off.

Essential oils are great remedies for common problems, such as a messy home, stressful day and even an awful cold. The great thing about these is you can mix and match and use them to your liking. You can even find other hidden benefits by experimenting with a few. Just be sure they are pure and can be used topically or consumed if that is what you’re looking for. They can be found pretty much anywhere online, but be sure to do your research, as you wouldn’t want to end up with subpar essential oil products.
